At Least 1 Seriously Injured in Crash Involving Big Rig on 5 Freeway near Avenal Cutoff Road in Kings County
Kings County, California (August 3, 2022) – At least one person was severely injured in a crash involving a semi-truck that happened early Wednesday morning near Avenal in Kings County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision occurred at about 4:48 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Avenal Cutoff Road.
A white Ford passenger van collided with a big rig under unclear circumstances.
Emergency personnel from the Kings County Fire Department responded to find both vehicles on the right-hand shoulder. The van had major front-end damage.
The responders rendered aid to at least one person who suffered major injuries.
Authorities are investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
