Gernert was riding an eastbound 2020 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic when he attempted to pass another vehicle by entering westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound Ford F150 driven by 70-year-old Donald P. Charlton of Harrah, WA.

Airway Heights, WA. – 40-year-old Christina J. Gernert, from Post Falls, ID, was killed in a head-on crash on State Route 2 in Airway Heights two weeks ago.
According to the Washington State Police, the wreck happened on Highway 2 near milepost 268 at around 6:50 p.m. on July 6.
Gernert was riding an eastbound 2020 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic when he attempted to pass another vehicle by entering westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound Ford F150 driven by 70-year-old Donald P. Charlton of Harrah, WA.
Gernert, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcycle was totaled. Charlton, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed but his truck sustained reportable damage and was towed from the scene.
The primary causes of the accident were identified as excessive speed and improper passing.
The mishap remains under investigation.
