Christine Embree Killed in Carlsbad Car Accident at Basswood Avenue and Valley Street
Carlsbad, California (August 10, 2022) – Authorities have identified Christine Hawk Embree, 35, as the woman killed following an e-bike accident on Sunday evening in Carlsbad, according to a local news source.
The accident occurred at about 5:45 p.m. on August 7, at Basswood Avenue and Valley Street near Carlsbad High School.
Per the report, Christine Embree was riding an e-bike when she was hit by a Toyota 4-Runner for reasons yet to be determined. Christine was reportedly carrying her 16-month-old daughter at the time.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene to attend to Christine and her daughter. Christine was taken to the hospital, where she died. The daughter was not hurt in the crash.
The Toyota driver, a 42-year-old woman, remained at the accident location and cooperated with authorities.
Officials closed the intersection following the incident.
An investigation is ongoing.

The collision happened on Basswood Avenue and Valley Street at about 5:45 p.m. on August 7.
A 35-year-old woman was riding an electric bike with her 16-month-old daughter when they were hit by a Toyota SUV near Carlsbad High School.
The woman reportedly suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Her baby was uninjured but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The operator of the SUV, a 42-year-old woman, was not hurt in the accident.
DUI is not suspected to have played a role in the crash.
The Carlsbad Police Department is investigating the collision.
