Christopher Watson Killed in Redding Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 299 near Buckhorn Summit

Redding, California (August 23, 2022) – Christopher Merle Watson, 46, of Red Bluff, has been identified as the man who was killed in a Thursday evening traffic accident involving a semi-truck in Redding, according to the coroner's office.
The deadly accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m., on August 18, on Highway 299, just east of Buckhorn Summit.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Kia four-door, driven by Watson, was headed westbound on the highway when it tried to pass other vehicles in the passing lane on a sharp corner.
Unfortunately, Watson reportedly lost control of his vehicle and drifted across the center line into the other lane of traffic, where he collided with a semi-truck.
As a result of the crash, the truck caught fire, spreading to the roadside vegetation.
Sadly, Watson sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at Mercy Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
