26-Year-Old Man Killed in Clairemont Motorcycle Accident on Balboa Avenue near Genesee Avenue
Clairemont, California (October 29, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car Friday afternoon in the Clairemont neighborhood in San Diego, according to San Diego police.
The deadly crash occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Balboa Avenue between Genesee Avenue and Mount Alifan Drive/Mount Abernathy Avenue.
Authorities said a 26-year-old man was riding a Yamaha R6 sportbike eastbound on Balboa Avenue while a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 64-year-old woman, was heading westbound on Balboa Avenue.
The Chevrolet reportedly tried to make a left turn into a shopping center and went into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the collision and slammed into the front passenger door of the Chevrolet.
Deadly Motorcycle Accident on Balboa Avenue in Clairemont
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving measures performed by emergency responders. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Malibu did not suffer injuries in the collision.
Police temporarily closed Part of Balboa Avenue, just west of Interstate 805, as the investigation and cleanup took place.
