Pierce County, WA. – A construction worker was injured after being struck by a vehicle near Spanaway on Tuesday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident happened on State Route 7 at 188th Street at around 1:31 a.m.
A man was driving a vehicle southbound on the highway when he struck a traffic control trailer and a dump truck with a trailer.
The impact of the collision pushed one of the cars forward where it struck a construction worker.
The worker was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The driver's car burst into flames after the crash and the driver was pulled out by bystanders before he was taken to hospital for treatment.
The driver was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
