Joel Vitangeli reportedly lost control and became airborne, hitting backwards into a support tower.

Corona, Calif. – 41-year-old Joel Vitangeli died in a snowboarding accident that happened Wednesday last week at Mountain High in Corona, as per a local news source.
Vitangeli sustained injuries after hitting a support tower for one of the chairlifts.
The victim was reportedly snowboarding when he appeared to reverse direction before losing control and becoming airborne. He then slammed backwards into the tower.
Members of the ski patrol rushed Vitangeli to the bottom of the slope to the ski patrol office, where they met San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel.
The firefighters began administering life saving measures, but the man did not survive. He was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m.
