Cyrus Peterson Arrested after Fatal San Diego Crash on I-15 near Miramar Road

San Diego, California (September 21, 2022) – Cyrus Peterson, 23, of San Diego, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a crash that left a pedestrian dead on northbound Interstate 15 in San Diego early Sunday morning, according to authorities.
The crash happened just north of Miramar Road at around 4:10 a.m. September 18.
The pedestrian, Delfino Gonzalez, 39, of Escondido, had been driving home from work when the vehicle he was driving ran out of gas.
He then stepped out of the vehicle and began to walk to get gas.
Shortly after, Gonzalez was hit by a Lexus driven by Peterson.
Gonzalez was killed in the crash.
Authorities said intoxication was suspected in the incident and Peterson was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
The collision remained under investigation.

San Diego, California (September 19, 2022) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a suspected DUI drive on a freeway in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego on Sunday morning.
The California Highway Patrol says the accident happened at around 4:10 on Interstate 15 Freeway near Miramar Road.
The male pedestrian was walking in the lanes for unknown reasons and was struck by a black Lexus sedan.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The Lexus driver stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the authorities.
CHP said the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
