A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday night on State Route 125 in Spring Valley, police said

Spring Valley, Calif – The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the pedestrian who died Sunday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Spring Valley as 63-year-old Dale Alan Pumphrey from El Cajon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Pumphrey was working as a tow truck driver and was removing a vehicle that was stalled on the southbound Highway 125. Pumphrey went around the driver's side of the tow truck and partially entered the number 4 travel lane of the highway where he was struck by a Prius sedan.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and despite attempts to resuscitate, Pumphrey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
