Daniel Garcia ID'd as 1 of 3 Killed in Goleta Head-On Collision on Highway 101 near Dos Pueblos Canyon Road
Goleta, California (August 26, 2021) – Daniel Garcia, 25, of Santa Maria, has been identified as one of the three people who died early Wednesday morning following a fiery wrong-way, head-on crash in Goleta.
The deadly accident happened at about 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, on the southbound side of Highway 101, just north of Dos Pueblos Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 when it collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
Both vehicles caught fire after the impact.
3 Killed in Highway 101 Collision in Goleta
Garcia and another occupant of the second vehicle were killed in the crash. The wrong way motorist also died.
It is unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. The authorities temporarily closed Highway 101 in both directions for several hours as the investigation and cleanup took place.
No further details about the crash were immediately given.
The accident remains under investigation.
