The two collided in the area of Singley Road and Singley Hill Road and the Nissan burst into flames
Singley, Calif. – Daniel Ramirez, 16, of Fortuna, was killed in a collision with a big rig near Singley on Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 7:51 p.m. March 5, the CHP received reports of a collision between a 2017 Freightliner semi-truck pulling two trailers and a 2001 Nissan Frontier.
The two collided in the area of Singley Road and Singley Hill Road and the Nissan burst into flames.
Both occupants of the Nissan were trapped in the burning vehicle but one of them, Guadalupe Ramirez, 65, of Fortuna, was rescued by the big rig's driver and a bystander.
Guadalupe was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Eureka with major injuries.
The other occupant of the Nissan, Daniel Ramirez, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the big rig, Logan Morais, 20, of McKinleyville, was not injured.
The CHP is investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
