According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the mishap happened at around 3:30 p.m. November 29 in the 1500 block of South Clackamas River Drive.
Clackamas County, OR – 59-year-old David Christopher Collins of Springfield was killed in a crash that injured a female passenger Friday afternoon in Clackamas County.
According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the mishap happened at around 3:30 p.m. November 29 in the 1500 block of South Clackamas River Drive.
Deputies said 36-year-old Chad Joseph Van Lom was driving his Mazda SUV recklessly when it collided head on with a second vehicle driven by Collins.
Collins was pronounced dead at the scene while his female passenger was hospitalized with injuries.
Van Lom was hospitalized following the crash, and discharged Monday, where he was immediately arrested.
He was charged with second-degree manslaughter, DUII, third-degree assault (DUII), reckless driving, and two counts of reckless endangering.
The police said impaired driving was a contributing factor in the collision.
