David Jorgensen Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Hwy 22 at Highway 223 in Polk County

Polk County, OR – The Oregon State Police have identified a motorcyclist killed in a Thursday afternoon crash on Highway 22 in Polk County as David Peter Jorgensen, 88, of Oak Harbor (WA).

The grisly wreck occurred at around 4:12 p.m. on July 17 on State Route 22 at Highway 223, according to a police report.

Reports revealed that a northbound Kawasaki EJ650 motorcycle operated by Jorgensen, was stopped on the northbound Highway 223 at the intersection with Highway 22W.

The Kawasaki then attempted to cross Highway 22W when it slammed into the side of a westbound Kenworth log driven by 60-year-old Timothy Lawrence May of Sheridan.

Jorgensen was declared deceased at the scene while the truck driver, May, suffered no injuries.

The highway was closed for about five hours as officers investigated the crash site.

No further information about the accident was provided.

An investigation is underway.
