David McGowan Killed in Bakersfield Collision on Rosedale Highway near Renfro Road
Bakersfield, California (March 30, 2022) – David Shane McGowan, 43, of Bakersfield was killed in a fiery car accident on Monday evening in Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
At about 6:42 p.m. March 29, McGowan was reportedly in a BMW stopped at a stop sign on westbound Rosedale Highway at Renfro Road when he accelerated as the light turned green.
He then lost control and collided with a Ford traveling in the eastbound side.

McGowan was pronounced deceased at the site of the accident.
The other motorist was transported to Kern Medical for treatment of moderate injuries.
According to CHP, alcohol and drugs were not suspected in the incident but the wet roadway was likely a factor.
The CHP is handling the investigation.
