Officials said Whalen was riding a three-wheel mobility scooter when he was hit by a vehicle
Ojai, CA – The Scooter rider who was killed in a collision in Ojai on Saturday afternoon has been identified as David Whalen, 80, of Ojai, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
The crash took place in the area of Grand Avenue and Lion Street just before 3:40 p.m. April 27.
Officials said Whalen was riding a three-wheel mobility scooter when he was hit by a vehicle.
Whalen was flown to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries, including a head injury.
Sheriff's officials said Whalen was later pronounced deceased.
The driver who struck the scooter rider remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
