Demetrius Powell Killed In Temescal Canyon, I-15 Fiery Crash Overnight

Corona, California (July 2, 2022) – Authorities have released the name of the person who died early Friday morning in a crash involving a vehicle and a semi- trailer in Corona.

Demetrius Powell, 31, of Las Vegas was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at about 2:58 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022.

According to the County Sheriff's Department, the crash took place at about 2:39 a.m. on the southbound approximately 57 feet south of Temescal Canyon Road.

According to a local news source, Demetrius Powell was killed when a big rig crashed into his sedan which had stalled in the slow lane. Powell was standing outside his Kia when the crash occurred.

The impact caused the big rig, which had been hauling a load of food products for area grocery stores, to roll onto its side. The tractor-trailer also caught fire and was put out by the Cal Fire/ Fire Authority

The incident remains under investigation.
