Derek Holt ID'd as Hemet Public Works Employee killed in a collision on Acacia Avenue near Kirby Street in Hemet
Hemet, CA. – 40-year-old Derek Holt has been identified as the City of Hemet Public Works employee who died after being struck by a suspected DUI driver on Thursday morning in Hemet.
According to the Hemet Police Department, the accident happened around 6 a.m. on Acacia Avenue near Kirby Street.
A compact car was westbound on Acacia when it crashed into a municipal truck parked just west of the intersection.
Holt was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead.
The driver who struck the employee remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
