Devyn Lewis ID'd as Shasta Lake Resident Injured in Fatal Redding Crash on Interstate 5 near Market Street Overcrossing

Redding, California (June 12, 2022) – Devyn Zeno Lewis, 51, of Shasta Lake, has been identified as the person who was injured in a Friday night wrong-way crash that killed one other person in Redding, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 9:18 p.m., on June 10, on Interstate 5, north of Market Street overcrossing.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Zeno Lewis, 51, of Shasta Lake, was headed northbound in the number one lane when it collided head-on with a 2005 Ford Explorer pickup, driven by Randall James Lewis, 69, of Bella Vista, that was traveling the roadway.
As a result of the crash impact, Chevrolet crashed into the left side of a 2015 Kenworth truck-tractor operated by Gurtej Singh Sidhu, 38, of Clovis. The truck was traveling northbound in the No. 2 lane.

Sadly, James Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.
Zeno Lewis was seriously injured and was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. Sidhu didn't have any known injuries.
More details regarding the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
Traffic Collision Fatalities Reached a 16-Year High in 2021, Early Estimates Show
Newly released estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that fatalities reached a 16-year high last year. According to the Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2021 report released by NHTSA, about 42,915 people were killed in traffic collisions in 2021. This shows a 10.5% increase from the 38,828 fatalities reported in 2020. NHTSA says the projection is the highest number of traffic deaths since 2005 as well as the largest percentage rise in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.
