According to the Citrus Heights Police Department, the collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. at Old Auburn Road and Bonita Way.
Citrus Heights, CA. – 35-year-old Doris Meretz of Sacramento was seriously injured in a DUI-suspected head-on collision that happened Saturday morning in Citrus Heights.
According to the Citrus Heights Police Department, the collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. at Old Auburn Road and Bonita Way.
Police said Meretz was driving a car with her two kids as her passengers when she collided head-on with another vehicle at the intersection under unclear circumstances.
Emergency personnel transported Meretz to the hospital with major injuries.
Police suspect that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the wreck. She is expected to face felony DUI charges.
Her kids were not hurt and were placed into protective custody with Child Protective Services.
The driver of the other car was not injured either.
Investigators closed Old Auburn Road between Bonita Way and Wickham Drive for about four hours following the collision.
