DPS Identifies Two Killed, Driver Arrested in Phoenix Rollover Crash on SR-51

, AZ – The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) has released the identities of two people who were killed and the motorist involved in a late-night rollover crash on SR-51 in Phoenix earlier this year.

On Thursday, the DPS identified the deceased parties as 18-year-old Gianna Lopez and Cesar Cazares, 18, of Casa Grande.

The driver was identified as 20-year-old Adan Dominquez Ornelas.

DPS said Ornelas was arrested on July 1 and has been booked on homicide and aggravated assault charges for the deadly single-vehicle crash

According to the DPS, the accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on March 30, 2025, in the southbound lanes of Highway 51 between Northern Avenue and Shea Boulevard.

Investigators said one person, later identified as Lopez, was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

Two other people, including Cazares, suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized.

DPS said Cazares passed on after spending several weeks at a Valley hospital.
