Long Beach, CA. – The Long Beach Police Department reported that a driver died after driving his car at a high rate of speed and hitting a wall near an intersection in the city.
The incident was reported around 12:25 a.m. in the area of Seventh Street and Margo Avenue near the Veterans Administration Hospital and California State University.
An initial investigation revealed that a man was driving a Ford Mustang west on Seventh Street at a high rate of speed when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, and struck a wall.
Responding police officers and firefighters found the man in full cardiac arrest.
The firefighters attempted life-saving measures but the victim died at the scene.
Speed is being investigated as a factor contributing to the crash.
