The driver exited the car after crashing into sand barrels and was struck by a passing van

San Francisco, Calif. – A driver was seriously injured after being hit by a car after a crash on Saturday night in San Francisco.
The accident was reported around 7:40 p.m. on the Interstate 280 Freeway at the Highway 101 connector, the California Highway Patrol said.
The driver of a Honda CRV reportedly crashed into sand barrels at the connector. The driver exited the car and was struck by a passing van.
The driver of the Honda suffered major injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The van driver stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the police.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
