Eryka Lopez Among 3 Killed in Fiery Traffic Collision on Highway 101 near Dos Pueblos Canyon Road in Goleta
Goleta, California (August 26, 2021) – Eryka Lopez, 23, of Santa Maria, was among three people who were killed in a fiery two-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Goleta.
The tragic wreck happened at about 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, on the southbound side of Highway 101, just north of Dos Pueblos Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, Natalia Stallworth, 28, of Santa Barbara, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on Highway 101 when her vehicle collided head-on with another car occupied by Lopez and Daniel Garcia, 25, also of Santa Maria.
Both vehicles caught fire after the impact.
Fatal Goleta Car Crash on Highway 101
Stallworth, Lopez, and Garcia were killed in the crash.
It was not immediately known if intoxication played a role in the collision.
The authorities temporarily closed Highway 101 in both directions for several hours as the investigation and cleanup took place.
No further details about the crash were immediately given.
The accident remains under investigation.
