According to the Phoenix Police Department, the wreck happened at around 6:45 p.m. February 24 near 39th Avenue and Buren Street.

A male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the area for unknown reasons. The driver of the vehicle left the scene before authorities arrived.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name was upheld pending notification of the next of kin.
