, Ore. – A 21-year-old motorcycle rider was killed in a head-on crash in Trail Saturday afternoon, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

The deadly traffic collision was reported at around 12:53 p.m. on March 16 on Elk Creek Road.

Investigators said the rider failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and drove into the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with a northbound 2018 Chevy Colorado.

Despite life-saving measures, the rider was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The name of the victim was upheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Police said speed was a factor in the wreck.
