Fillmore Woman Dies in Santa Paula Car Accident on State Route 126

Santa Paula, CA – A 59-year-old Fillmore woman was killed and 40-year-old Santa Paula woman hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning on Highway 126 in Santa Paula.
The incident was reported at around 11:15 a.m. on State Route 126 near Peck Road, according to California Highway Patrol and Ventura County Fire Department reports.
According to a preliminary investigation, the Fillmore woman was driving a blue Dodge Dakota pickup truck westbound in the right lane when for unknown reasons, she lost control and the truck traveled into the left lane into the path of a black Mercedes-Benz SUV, driven by Santa Paula woman.
The Dakota pickup truck ended up getting T-boned during the crash. Both cars sustained significant damage.
Both women were taken by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center, where the driver of the Dakota pickup truck died at the hospital.
The police said wet weather might be the cause of the wreck.
The names of the deceased and injured victim were not immediately disclosed.
The incident closed westbound lanes for about an hour.
The crash remains under investigation.
