Flurencio Martinez Arrested after Deadly Taft Car Crash on Highway 33 and Wood Street

Taft, California (August 22, 2022) – Flurencio Martinez, 20, of Bakersfield, was arrested on DUI charges after a collision that left two people dead on Sunday night in Taft, according to the authorities.
Two vehicles were involved in the incident that took place just after 9 p.m. on August 21, in the area of Wood Street and Highway 33.
Martinez was reportedly driving a small car that collided with a semi-truck.
Two passengers in the car, identified as Sergio Andres Lopez Mata, 46, from Tijuana, Mexico, and Edgar Eduardo Herrera Garcia, 35, of Bakersfield, were killed in the incident.
Martinez was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter and DUI.
An investigation into the fatal collision is ongoing.
