Semi-Truck Driver Seriously Injured in Rollover Collision on Highway 99 at Manning Avenue Off-Ramp in Fowler

Fowler, California (June 8, 2022) – A semi-truck driver was seriously injured in a Wednesday morning traffic collision that happened on Highway 99 in Fowler, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The rollover crash was reported at about 11:14 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway at the Manning Avenue off-ramp.
According to CHP, a rock-hauler semi-truck slammed into the center divider wall under unclear circumstances, and then an Amazon van or truck crashed into the semi.
The big rig overturned onto its side, and the Amazon vehicle stopped behind it.
The vehicles were blocking traffic lanes, and debris from the crash was scattered in the roadway.

The driver of the semi got trapped inside with major injuries.
Fowler police and firefighters responded to the scene shortly after the collision to help the victim. It was not clear if the male driver of the Amazon vehicle was injured.
A construction team from the semi's construction company was helping to move the big rig's debris from the traffic lanes onto the embankment.
The crash caused traffic backup extending to Adams Avenue. A SigAlert was issued closing all southbound traffic lanes for about four hours. Motorists were being diverted off the freeway at Adams.
CHP is investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
