Frank Campa Killed in Tucson Motorcycle Accident at South Alvernon Way and East Benson Highway

, AZ – The authorities have released the identity of a motorcyclist who was killed after colliding with a dump at an intersection in Tucson Monday afternoon.

Tucson police identified the deceased rider as 63-year-old Frank David Campa.

Police said a Kenworth dump truck, operated by a 40-year-old,  was stopped for a red light on westbound Benson Highway. Frank Campa was also heading west and reportedly passed several vehicles on the shoulder and stopped in the front line alongside the dump truck.

When the light turned green for the westbound traffic, the dump truck driver began to turn right and struck Campa.

Campa was transported to Banner-University Medical Center where he died.

The truck driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

Tucson, AZ – A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a dump truck in Tucson Monday afternoon, according to Tucson Police.

The accident happened in the area of South Alvernon Way and East Benson Highway at about 2:45 p.m. on June 9.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Kenworth dump truck was stopped for a red light on westbound Benson Highway. A westbound motorcyclist reportedly passed several vehicles on the shoulder and stopped in the front line alongside the dump truck.

When the light turned green, police say the truck driver made a right-hand turn onto northbound Alvernon Way and struck the motorcyclist in the process.  

The truck remained at the scene after the accident.

The motorcyclist was taken to Banner-University Medical Center where he died a short time later.

The 40-year-old man operating the truck was not injured.

No other details were available.

The police are investigating the collision.
