Bicyclist Critically Injured in Fresno Crash at Griffith and Blackstone Avenues
Fresno, California (October 2, 2021) – A bicyclist was hospitalized with major injuries after being involved in a traffic collision at a Fresno intersection on Friday night, according to the Fresno Police Department.
The rider was trying to cross Blackstone Avenue at Griffith Avenue against a red light when police say he was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Blackstone Avenue.
The incident happened at around 10:16 p.m. October 1.
The impact threw the rider onto the roof of the vehicle.
Bicyclist Critical after Fresno Collision at Griffith and Blackstone Avenues
The victim, only identified as a man in his 50s, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The driver who hit the bicyclist stayed at the scene after the collision and reportedly cooperated with the investigators.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
The crash is under investigation by the Fresno Police Department.
