County, California (May 20, 2022) – Gabriel Ignacio Rodriguez Jastram, 26, of Frankfurt, Germany, was injured in a Monday afternoon collision in Madera County, according to California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place on Highway 41 at around 5:50 p.m. on May 16, near Road 406.

CHP said Olivia Tijerina, 52, of , was driving a 2008 Honda Accord southbound on State when, for unknown reasons, she swerved into the path of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a northbound 2020 GMC Canyon driven by Jastram.

The Honda then spun out and crashed into a rock embankment.

According to the report, Tijerina was pinned in her vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. 

Tijerina was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with serious injuries.

Jastram and his passenger, Ann Sophie Von Zastrow, were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be factors in the collision, CHP said.

The investigation is ongoing.
