1-Year-Old Girl Killed in Buttonwillow Car Crash on Burbank Street and Shafter Avenue
Buttonwillow, California (July 27, 2022) – A 1-year-old girl was killed in a car accident on Saturday in Buttonwillow, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at the intersection of Burbank Street and Shafter Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2004 Dodge Ram truck, driven by Irving Rodriguez-Barraza, 22, of Wasco, was headed eastbound on Burbank Street approaching Shafter Avenue when it ran a stop sign and crashed into a 2017 Jeep.
The 1-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Jeep was injured in the accident and was taken to Kern Medical, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Three other parties in the Jeep sustained moderate injuries and were hospitalized for treatment.
Rodriguez-Barraza, who sustained major injuries in the accident, was arrested for driving under the influence.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
