, California (December 6, 2021) – At least one person was airlifted to the hospital after a multi-vehicle collision that happened early Sunday morning in Hollister, according to the California Highway Patrol

The pileup occurred at about 12:18 a.m. on northbound State Route 25, just south of Highway 156.

The wreck involved a Volkswagen, a big rig, and possibly a third vehicle. One of the vehicles caught fire, but someone was able to put it out with a fire extinguisher.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and requested an air ambulance to airlift at least one person who suffered severe injuries.

Authorities are investigating to establish whether one of the drivers had been drinking prior to the collision.
