, California (October 13, 2021) – Two people were injured, one of them seriously after a car crash on Highway 36 in Carlotta, an unincorporated community in Humboldt County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday near Creekside Lane and just west of Carlotta Post Office.

The wreck involved an Audi A4, a gray Toyota Corolla, and a deer.

An initial investigation revealed that one of the cars collided with the deer, and then the vehicle was involved in a rear-end crash with the other.

The deer took off, and the vehicles were blocking the roadway after the accident.

2 Injured in Highway 36 Collision in Carlotta

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to find one person with major injuries and another with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
