Oildale, Calif. – The Kern County Coroner's Office has released the identity of a passenger who was killed after a police pursuit ended up in a deadly two-vehicle crash near Yosemite Drive and Avenue in Oildale on September 2.

The passenger has been identified as Renee Anette Stansbury, 38, of .

Stansbury was a passenger in an allegedly stolen vehicle being pursued by deputies.

Authorities say the stolen vehicle crashed into another motorist in the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue, west of Yosemite Drive.

Oildale, California (September 2, 2023) – One person was killed after a crash near an intersection in Oildale Saturday morning.

The crash happened at around 9:15 a.m. near Yosemite Drive and Lincoln Avenue.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, the incident started when the deputies initiated a brief car pursuit of an alleged stolen car.

The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle lost control and collided with another vehicle.

The driver and the passenger of the suspect car suffered injuries and were rushed to a local hospital for treatment, where the passenger was pronounced dead.

The occupants in the second vehicle were not injured.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

An investigation is ongoing.
