Ima Flippen ID'd as Woman Killed in Bakersfield Collision on Olive Drive and Knudsen Drive

Bakersfield, California (August 28, 2021) – The woman who died following an alleged DUI crash mid of this month in Bakersfield has been identified by the coroner's office as Ima Jean Flippen, 77.
At 9:22 p.m. Saturday, August 14, the California Highway Patrol officers responded to the intersection of Olive Drive and Knudsen Drive.
According to the CHP, a Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Arianna Laura Hernandez, 19, was traveling on the Olive Drive overpass near Knudsen Drive when, for undetermined reasons, the pickup truck crossed over the center median into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a Ford Crown Victoria, driven by a 50-year-old woman.

Flippen, who was a passenger in the Ford Crown Victoria, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford Crown Victoria sustained major injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
All parties involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Hernandez was also taken to the hospital to be treated for major injuries before being arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Her bail was set at $1.25 million and is due in court on September 7 for the misdemeanor.
The crash remains under investigation.
