Jaime Perez Killed in San Jose Accident on Hellyer Avenue near Ridgebrook Way

San Jose, California (September 8, 2022) – The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office identified the man who was hit and killed by a DUI driver last weekend in San Jose as Jaime Lopez Perez.
Perez was hit on September 3 when he was walking in traffic lanes after he was involved in an initial collision.
According to police, Perez was driving a 2007 Toyota sedan eastbound on Hellyer Avenue near Ridgebrook Way in the Hellyer neighborhood when, at around 3:30 a.m., he crashed into three parked cars. He got out of his vehicle and was walking in the roadway when he was hit by a 2000 Dodge truck heading westbound on Hellyer.
Perez was pronounced dead at the crash site.
Authorities said 23-year-old Rolando Lopez was driving the Dodge and stopped and remained at the scene after the accident. He displayed symptoms of intoxication and was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. Lopez faces charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
