James Burroughs Airlifted after Shaws Flat Road Crash near Highway 49 in Sonora

Sonora, California (January 6, 2022) – 39-year-old James Ashley Burroughs of Sonora has been identified as the motorcyclist who was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a collision with a sedan in Sonora, according to the CHP.
The incident happened on Shaws Flat Road and Highway 49 before 5:30 p.m. January 4.
CHP said Virginia Rose Hahn, 20, of Sonora, was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta northbound on Shaws Flat Road while Burroughs was riding a 2008 Husqvarna motorcycle directly behind the Jetta.
Hahn then stopped and waited to turn left into a driveway on Shaws Flat Road. Burroughs failed to stop in time and rear-ended Hahn's vehicle.
Major Injury Motorcycle Collision in Sonora
Burroughs, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off the bike and landed on the east shoulder. He was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center with major injuries.
Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the collision.
The intersection was closed for a while as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
