Man Killed in Crash on 25th Street East at Avenue R in Palmdale Identified
Palmdale, California (April 5, 2022) – Authorities have identified the man killed in a car crash early Friday morning in Palmdale as 45-year-old James Llewellyn.
The Palmdale man was involved in the crash at around 4:47 a.m. on 25th Street East at Avenue R.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Llewellyn was westbound on Avenue R in a black 2017 Ford Focus when he made a right turn onto 25th Street East on a red light. He then made a U-turn in front of a 2016 Toyota Camry heading northbound on 25th with an Asian female adult behind its wheel. The female driver drove through the intersection on a yellow or green light and collided with the driver's side of Llewellyn's Ford.

First responders pronounced Llewellyn dead at the scene.
The female driver and her minor passenger sustained unspecified injuries. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
The crash is being investigated by the Palmdale Police Department.
