James Miller Dies after Santa Barbara Crash at East Canon Perdido and Quarantina Streets

, California (January 3, 2021) – The motorcyclist who sustained major injuries in a crash with a vehicle at a Santa Barbara intersection in mid-December has succumbed to his injuries, authorities reported.

The collision occurred at about 10 a.m. on December 15 at the intersection of East Canon Perdido and Quarantina Streets.

Police said 57-year-old James Miller of Santa Barbara was riding his motorcycle eastbound on East Canon Perdido Street when he collided with a black BMW that was traveling southbound at the intersection of East Canon Perdido and Quarantina Street.

Miller was thrown off the bike and landed 50 feet from the accident scene.

Miller was rushed to Cottage Hospital with serious injuries. On December 28, his condition deteriorated, and he died from his injuries.

The driver of the BMW was not injured.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.
