James Torrey Jr Killed in Lake County Accident on Highway 53 near Dam Road
Lake County, California (July 21, 2022) – A suspected DUI collision left a 43-year-old Clearlake pedestrian dead on Wednesday morning in Lake County, according to authorities.
James Torrey Jr. was killed in the collision that occurred just before 1 a.m. on July 20, on Highway 53, just north of Dam Road.
According to the Clearlake Police Department, James Nielsen, 27, of Clearlake, was driving a Toyota Tacoma that collided with Torrey in the area.
Details on what led up to the accident were not immediately available.
Torrey was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
Nielsen sustained minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI. He was booked into the Lake County Jail and released later on in the day.
Police are conducting an investigation into the deadly pedestrian accident.
