Janica Clyde Hurt in Chico Car Accident on Highway 99 and Esplanade

Chico, California (March 31, 2022) – At least one person was injured in a suspected DUI crash in Chico on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place in the area of Highway 99 and Esplanade at around 2:30 p.m. March 30.
According to the CHP, Ronald Rodarte, 39, was driving a Hyundai Elantra that stopped at a stop sign and pulled into the path of a Ford Taurus traveling southbound on Highway 99.
The Hyundai was broadsided by the Ford Taurus.

The driver of the Ford, Randall Pockrus, 63, spun in the intersection while the Hyundai crashed into a chain-link fence
Pockrus suffered moderate injuries.
Janica Clyde, 67, who was his passenger, suffered minor injuries.
Rodarte was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and was taken into custody.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
