Jay Lewis Killed in Eureka Motorcycle Crash on King Salmon Avenue

Eureka, California (August 29, 2022) – Jay Lewis, 49, of Eureka, was killed in a motorcycle collision that occurred on August 21 in Eureka, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on King Salmon Avenue near the PG&E power plant entrance.
CHP said Dillon Thornton-Weaver, 21, of Eureka, was driving a 2006 BMW sedan eastbound on King Salmon Avenue when he tried to pass a slower-moving vehicle and collided head-on with a westbound 2005 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Lewis.
Lewis was pronounced deceased at the scene following the collision.
Thornton-Weaver suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment.
CHP said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident, which remained under investigation.
