Jermaine Walton Arrested on Suspicion of DUI after Fatal Elk Grove Crash on Highway 99

Elk Grove, California (January 22, 2022) – A 31-year-old Sacramento man was arrested after he caused a wrong-way collision that left a police officer on a motorcycle dead early Friday morning in Elk Grove, the authorities said.
Jermaine J. Walton was reportedly driving northbound on the southbound side of Highway 99 when he collided head-on with a southbound motorcycle driven by Officer Tyler “Ty” Lenehan of the Elk Grove Police Department.
The tragic accident occurred near Sutterville Road just after 5:15 a.m. January 21, as Officer Lenehan was on his way to work.

Lenehan was transported to UC Davis Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
Walton was arrested on multiple charges including DUI, murder, crushing crash with injuries, and driving the wrong way.
He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
