Police said the 21-year-old man riding a motorcycle entered the intersection on a red light and collided with a 2018 Mazda CX-3 on a green light

San Diego, CA – A 21-year-old man who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident about two months ago in San Diego is dead, accordimg to the San Diego County Coroner's Office.
The San Diego County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Jesus Casanova.
According to the CHP, the crash happened around 5:55 p.m. on October 31 at Balboa Avenue and Gerald Griffin Driveway.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Casanova was driving a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Balboa Drive when he entered the intersection at Gerald Griffin Driveway and collided with a northbound Mazda SUV.
Casanova was transported by ambulance to the Sharp Memorial Hospital (SMH). Upon arrival, he was diagnosed with multiple injuries and underwent surgical care prior to his transfer to the Villa Coronado Skilled Nursing Facility.
On November 25,2024, Casanova was readmitted to Sharp Coronado Hospital due to his declining health. He succumbed to his injuries on 11/30/2024, about a month after the collision.
Casanova's passenger, a 21-year-old woman, was also hopsitalized with majot injuries following the incident.
An investigation into the wreck is ongoing.

Kearny Mesa, CA.- Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident that took place in Kearny Mesa on Thursday afternoon, according to the San Diego Police Department
The incident happened on Gerald Griffin Driveway and Balboa Avenue at about 5:54 p.m. October 31.
Police said a 21-year-old man riding a motorcycle entered the intersection on a red light and collided with a 2018 Mazda CX-3 on a green light.
The rider and his passenger, a 21-year-old woman, were both hispitalized with major injuries.
Police are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
