Joe Silva ID'd as Man Killed in Fresno Car Crash on Golden State Boulevard near Ashlan Avenue
Fresno, California (January 20, 2022) – The driver who died following a head-on collision Thursday morning in Fresno has been identified as Joe Silva, 58, of Fresno.
The deadly crash occurred shortly before 7:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, on Golden State Boulevard near Ashlan Avenue.
Authorities said a silver truck had collided with another vehicle at Highway 180 and Highway 99 minutes before the head-on collision. The driver of the silver truck reportedly fled the first collision and as a result, a pursuit ensued.
The chase between the suspect and the victim of the first collision headed toward Golden State Boulevard, where the silver truck collided head-on with a black truck driven by Silva.
Deadly Car Crash in Fresno
Silva was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect and their passenger were both transported to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.
Both lanes of Golden State Boulevard between Shaw and Ashlan were closed following the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation.
