, California (February 27, 2022) – Authorities have identified the 16-year-old boy who died after being struck by an SUV as he was riding skateboarding Friday night in Riverside as Jordan Rawlins.

The deadly crash happened at around 7:30 p.m. on February 25 at the intersection of Brockton Avenue and Avenue.

Police said Rawlins, a resident, was riding his skateboard northbound on Brockton Avenue while a 2003 GMC Yukon hauling a trailer was traveling westbound on Arlington Avenue.

Rawlins reportedly skated into the intersection and was struck by the SUV.

Rawlins was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 60-year-old man, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
