Man Killed, Jorge Augustin Arrested Following 15 Freeway Collision near Weirick Road
Corona, California (February 14, 2022) – Jorge Anival Gomez Augustin, 29, was arrested following a traffic crash that killed a driver in Corona on Saturday morning, according to the authorities.
The incident took place at around 3:07 a.m. February 12 on 15 Freeway.
Authorities said Augustin was driving a Mercedes Benz E-350 northbound on 15 Freeway when, for an unknown reason, he rear-ended a Honda CRV.
After the collision, both vehicles veered off the roadway and went down an embankment. The vehicles then traveled across the (Weirick) off-ramp lanes and came to a stop near the exit ramp.

The man driving the CRV, that vehicle's sole occupant, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Augustin, who was not hurt, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on suspicion of second-degree murder, driving under the influence resulting in death, and DUI resulting in great bodily injury.
The northbound lanes of the freeway were closed during the investigation.
