Bakersfield, Calif. – 46-year-old Jose Gelacio Mondragon Hernandez of Bakersfield was killed in a crash involving a truck at an intersection in Bakersfield Saturday night.
According to a police report, the wreck happened at around 11:35 p.m. on March 16 at South Sterling Road and Alto Place.
BPD said the preliminary investigation found that a man in a pickup truck was driving south in the 1300 block of South Sterling Street when his vehicle collided with the horse which was being ridden in the southbound lane of travel.
Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said speed, alcohol and drugs did not appear to be the cause of the mishap.
More details about the crash was not provided.
