Sanger, CA. – The Fresno County Coroner's Office identified 62-year-old Jose Lara as the man who died when his car submerged into a canal Saturday evening in Sanger.
According to the Sanger Police Department, the incident was reported around 7:10 p.m. near Newmark Avenue and North Avenue.
Witnesses told authorities that a man was inside a car when it ended up in a canal and got submerged in the water.
Police officers and good Samaritans provided help removing Lara from the submerged car.
Lara, a resident of Sanger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
SDP is investigating to determine what transpired leading to the crash.
